This Hydrangea is a deciduous plant so during the dormant season autumn winter it will lose all its leaves shooting new growth in the spring.  

Hydrangea macrophylla Leuchtfeuer or Firelight is a compact deciduous shrub with glossy ovate green leaves. Produces large balls of rich red to deep pink mop head flowers in summer turning mottled in autumn. Grow in alkaline soil.
